1- Read through all directions and warnings completely before installing this product.
-
2- First, look at boat and find desired location to install the Monkey Bar. The center of boat is best – right behind the windshield or driver.
-
3- Before mounting the bases to the boat: be sure to check the underside of gunnel and make sure there is adequate space for the under plates. Also check for any wires, cables or other obstructions.
-
4- Place the mounting bases in the desired location on both sides of the boat. Make sure that each location is measured to the same place on each gunnel. Mark where you will be drilling holes to mount the bases.
-
5- Drill 1/2” holes for both mounting bases.
-
6- Insert the bolts through the mounting bases and holes you drilled through the gunnel. NOTE- For the next step, use anti-seize on the bolts.
-
7- Slide the under plate over the bolts underneath the gunnel. Use 1/2” washers and 1/2” lock nuts to secure the mounting bases, be sure to tighten them firmly.
-
8- Now you need to assemble the Monkey Bar. Start by securing one vertical bar to a mounting base using a 4” hitch pin.
-
9- Slide the adjustable horizontal bar into the installed vertical bar with the cables facing forward.
-
10- Slide the other vertical bar over the adjustable horizontal bar and secure it to the base using a 4” hitch pin.
-
11- Now to set the Monkey Bar’s width. Pin the horizontal bar in place making sure it’s centered. It’s best to have some outward pressure on the Monkey Bar as this helps make it rigid.
-
12- Pull the sling through the boat’s trailer eye hook with equal lengths on either side of the bow. Wrap the sling up and around the bow and rest it in place.
-
13- Clip the carabineer at the end of the guy cable assembly through both ends of the sling. Be sure the cables are not twisted prior to doing this.
-
14- With the handle on the over-center buckle in the closed position, pull the slack out of the cables.
-
15- Open the handle on the over-center buckle. Pull approximately 1”- 2” of each cable through the cable clamp (making them shorter). Adjust the cables so the loop is 1½” - 2” in diameter
-
16- Tighten only two (one on each side) set screws on each cable so they don’t slip when you close the over-center buckle. NOTE- For the next step, be sure you pay close attention to how much tension the cables are applying to the Monkey Bar. Watch the mounting bases to make sure there isn’t too much stress on them when closing the clamp. Too much stress could damage the gunnel of the boat.
-
17- Slowly close the handle on the over-center buckle loading tension onto the Monkey Bar, and pulling it slightly forward. Watch the mounting bases to make sure that they are not too stressed.
-
18- If there is enough tension on the cables to effectively support the Monkey Bar without damaging the gunnel, proceed to the next step. Otherwise adjust the cables accordingly. Make small adjustments to their length until there is a balance of tension between the cable and mounting bases.
-
19- Tighten ALL set screws with the provided allen wrench. Be sure you tighten them until they are extremely tight. Go over all the set screws twice to make sure they are all tight.
-
20- Slide the cable pad over the cables and cable clamp, tuck any excess cable into the pad.
